The department of sociology has its origin dating back of 1971 when the college come into existence offering sociology at graduate level. Later in 1982 it started Post graduation classes. Besides departmental activites, the focus of department is on creating awareness amongst its students about their society and nation. This is accomplished by organizing special lecturers workshop and other activities like debates, essay writing, poster making, extempore on contemporary issues such as women empowerment, population explosion, female foeticide etc time to time. The department excellence of witness in achievement of first rank many times in University PG examinations (1988, 1993, 2004) around 23 PhD has been awarded and 01 scholar are pursuing their doctoral works. The department of sociology has two permanent teachers one is associate professor and second is assistant professor and 02 teachers on part time basis. Although  there is no departmental library , but there is a small departmental reference corner (DRC) which contains 93 books some books have been donated to the department by the faculty are also a part of DRC. Teaching learning method is lecture method and demonstration. New technology is also being used, lectures are combined with using PowerPoint presentation, OHP and LCD projector. these methods of teaching are making the teaching learning process meaningful. Department of sociology provide quality education with latest book and technology. Our department offer program in both Hindi and English language. The department aim to provide skill and critical thinking which are necessary for both academic and professional success of student. The faculty of sociology are highly educated and ensure the student of reach there goals. Department of sociology and courage student to use the department as a forum for their creative energies. Our department took special care for slow learner and help them through their learning process. Teaching and research in the department are supported by excellent infrastructure, a multimedia resource centre and a well stocked library that enable student to enjoy a successful academy and social life. The faculty member of the department always motivate student for various competitive examinations like civil services examination, NET-JRF, skill development courses and active participation in various program.
