The Department of drawing and painting came into entity in 1971 with the presence of four students then only. The department has a vibrant and creative space where is students can explore their artistic talents and Express themselves through various mediums and techniques. The department has well equipped Studio with natural light and proper ventilation. It has all the state of the art equipment including Easels, drawing board, tables and other painting material. It has gallery space for exhibitions and to display the students artistic work. The department of drawing and painting has experienced and qualified mentors with expertise in various art disciplines. The department conducted guest lectures and the visit of artist in the department to provide industry insight and inspiration. The department regularly conduct workshops  and demonstration by renowned artists. Art competitions and exhibitions are held here to showcase students work.  The faculty of the department try to develop technical skills of the  students. The teachers cultivate creativity and critical thinking in the students. The students are prepared for a career in the art or related field such as fine artist or painter, art educator or instructor, graphic designer or Illustrator, art conserve or restorer and Art critic or curator.

Overall, The department of drawing and painting provides the comprehensive education in visual arts, fostering creativity, technical skill and artistic expression. Every year the students of the department hold respective rank in the merit list generated by the University .the Student of the department qualified J.R.F. and NET examination and TGT, PGT exam also. Our students are working in respective government sectors after qualifying these exams. The faculty and the students are constantly working in the research field with new innovative ideas.
