About the Department
History is the study of the past which acts as a guide for the happy and secure future of mankind. In the history department of the college, courses are conducted at the graduate level, under which ancient, medieval, modern Indian history and world history are taught, this is very useful for competitive examinations. History also has great importance from the cultural point of view because it is an effective means of culturalizing the human mind and conduct. The curriculum covers a wide range of themes, including political developments, social movement, economic transformations, cultural shifts, and intellectual trends. By studying this, students are able to understand the present culture of their country on the basis of past civilization and culture and gain knowledge of its gradual development. That is why the department also makes the students aware of Indian culture from time to time through various activities. The objective of the department is to provide the latest knowledge to the students in the fields which have immense employment opportunities like historian, archaeologist, tourism as well as curator and conservator in various museums. Along with this, teaching, journalism, there are also immense employment opportunities in Library, Archives, Archaeological Survey of India, Ministry of Culture, International Organization, Heritage Management, Historical Societies and National Park Services.
